NBA star Randy Smith died unexpectedly in his Connecticut
home Thursday. According to close friends, Smith suffered a heart attack while
using a treadmill. He was 60.
Smith played in the NBA from 1972 to 1982. He played for
the Braves for seven years until the franchise shifted to the San Diego
Clippers. In 1979, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers and played for two
years before spending a season with the New York Knicks. He then moved back to
San Diego for his last season. Smith retired in 1983.
Smith is survived by his second wife, Angela, two sons
and a daughter.
