Amazon, Inc. is again recruiting hundreds for their seasonal staff for three fulfillment centers located in Kentucky, Kansas and Nevada through Workamper News, Inc. Their busiest season is coming up fast—October through December. Amazon hires at the Workamper News Rendezvous, through ads on the Workamper News website and through Jobinars (webinars in conjunction with Workamper News to inform prospective employees about job opportunities).
Employers from all over the USA recruit staff at this time of year for seasonal work. Employees known as Workampers that choose to work at Amazon, Christmas tree, pumpkin or fireworks sales are usually more interested in getting higher pay in a short amount of time (with their RV site and full utilities included). The work is demanding for a short season, but then they move on to a favored destination.
The fall is the busiest season for hundreds of other employers from all over the country to recruit staff for the rest of this year and in 2012. Some of the job advertisements are for year-round but the majority of job opportunities are for seasonal staff. The typical jobs are full or part time work in the Outdoor Hospitality industry as reservationists, park rangers, carpenters, gate attendants, tour guides, maintenance, landscapers, gift shop sales, warehouse workers, managers and sales. Employees are usually given a free RV site, including all utilities and other bonuses; occasionally an apartment or house is included. Some of the jobs are management or require specific skills that pay much higher wages.
Workampers primary objective is the ability to travel and live for an extended time during optimal seasons at prime locations in private and public campgrounds. There are thousands of national and state parks, wildlife refuges, lodges, vacation spots along lakes and rivers, mountains and seashores that vacationers, willing to shell out big dollars to visit, are not allowed to stay for an extended length of time. Workampers have the privilege of getting to know the area and enjoy the surroundings, with their overhead taken care of.
Mostly retired or semi-retired couples and individuals pursue the Workamping lifestyle, choosing their next destination months or years ahead of time, through Workamper News, Inc.’s help. However, Steve Anderson, President of Workamper News, says “we are definitely seeing a surge in younger folks taking advantage of the lifestyle as word gets out. More families are hitting the road by home-schooling their children and giving their children great “field trips” throughout the USA. Imagine the geography, sociology, geology, and history lessons their children get as they visit places most children only read about in their textbooks.”
Employers utilize Workamper News’ resources not only to advertise their opportunities, but to review applicants’ resumes, photo galleries, and Situation Wanted ads that employees post online and in the Workamper News magazine. DNC Parks at Yellowstone, Adventureland, and so many other tourist destinations just aren’t able to hire enough local employees to staff their seasonal jobs, or else get the quality performance typical of Workampers.
Basically, it’s a win-win for Employers and employees. I guess you could say Workamper News, Inc. is a one-stop resource center for Employers and employees seeking seasonal work.
