Deadly Fire at Nursery in Mexico Kills at least 31 Children

A deadly fire ripped through a children’s nursery in the northwestern Mexican state of Sonora killing at least 31 toddlers and leaving several more hospitalized.

Officials believe the fire originated at a tire store and quickly spread next door to the state-run ABC day-care center where nearly 200 children ages six months to five years were staying. Several of the children inside the day-care center were unable to escape the blaze as firefighters battled to extinguish the flames.

While the death toll has been listed at 31 children that total is expected to rise as there are still several children missing.
