Brad Pitt: Jennifer Aniston Is A “Dear Friend”

In a new interview with Matt Lauer, Brad Pitt sets the record straight about his recent comments regarding marriage to Jennifer Aniston and his relationship with Angelina Jolie.

"I don't know what was pieced together or put together. All I know is that my point was the best thing I've done as a father is to ensure that my kids have a good mother. That's all I was trying to say. It has no reference to the past... I think it's a shame that I can't say something nice about Angie without Jen being drug in. She doesn't deserve it,” Pitt tells Lauer.

The Moneyball star was referring to comments he made in an interview in Parade magazine. “It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself," Pitt told the magazine about his earlier years as an actor. "I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t."

"I put much more emphasis on being a satisfied man,” he told Parade. “I’m satisfied with making true choices and finding the woman I love, Angie, and building a family that I love so much. One of the greatest, smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mom. She is such a great mom. Oh, man, I’m so happy to have her.”

Pitt now tells Lauer that the media should not twist his words to sound negative about Aniston. "I don't want [people] to say anything bad like that about Jen. She's a dear friend of mine,” he says.

“I know my intentions and I know what I believe and I know things get misconstrued. I live outside of that and it's a much healthier place to be,” Pitt adds.

Aniston has not commented.
