College Basketball Recruiting: Will Barton, Antonio Barton Commit to Memphis Tigers

Will Barton, the nation's top HS shooting guard, and younger brother Antonio Barton committed to the Memphis Tigers on Saturday.

The Barton brothers become the first commitments for the class of 2010 for head coach Josh Pastner, who has recently become the head coach for Memphis (his first Division 1 head coaching job) after John Calipari left for the Kentucky Wildcats.

"We're down here at elite camp, and just felt at home, like it was family," said Will Barton to Rivals.com. "There is a closeness between everyone in the program, and we have a strong relationship with (Assistant) Coach Cyprien and Coach Pastner."

"I'm very excited," said Antonio. "It's a great fit for me, my brother and our family."

Will, a 6-foot-6 guard from Lake Clifton H.S. (Baltimore, MD), is currently ranked as the No. 1 shooting guard and the No. 7 high school player overall by Rivals.com. Antonio, a 6-foot-2 point guard from Lake Clifton, is currently unranked but is considered a three-star prospect.

Although the Bartons are in the same class, Will is 10 months older than Antonio. The commitments fall in line with their familial bond as they have always played together. They began their high school careers at National Christian Academy (Ft. Washington, MD), and then transferred closer to home to Lake Clifton. They also play AAU together for the Baltimore Stars.

Will was looking heavily at Kentucky, but had received several offers before committing to Memphis. Antonio selected the Tigers over Miami.
