Pearl Continental Hotel in Pakistan Bombed, at least Five Killed, Scores Injured

A bomb ripped through the five-star Pearl Continental hotel in the Pakistani city of Peshawar on Tuesday evening, killing at least five people and leaving more than 40 injured.

The Pearl Continental is among the most secure hotels in Pakistan as it counts many foreigners among its guests, often a target for militant attacks.

Officials have not disclosed how many bombs detonated but some reports have suggested there were multiple explosions that were followed with gunfire. There have been no claims of responsibility but Taliban insurgents are suspected in the attack.

Peshawar is the capital of the volatile North West Frontier Province in Pakistan.
