FDA Issues Warning Concerning Skin Care Products Made by Clarcon

The Food and Drug Administration issued a warning to consumers on Monday encouraging them to avoid skin care products made by Clarcon Biological Chemistry Laboratory Inc. after discovering high levels of disease-carrying bacteria in the products.

Many of the Clarcon products affected by the warning actually bill themselves as antimicrobial agents and are among the more popular hand sanitizers on the market. The Utah-based company issued a voluntary recall of some of those hand sanitizers and skin protectors but the FDA said consumers shouldn’t use any Clarcon products.

Samples taken from the products revealed high levels of various bacteria that could cause consumers to become sick and in some cases cause hospitalization and permanent damage.
