USA Basketball named its 12-man roster Tuesday to represent the U.S. in the inaugural 2009 FIBA Americas U16 Championship for Men.

The 12-man roster for the FIBA Americas U16 Championship are as follows: Justin Anderson (Montrose Christian School, Md. / Fredericksburg, Va.); Brad Beal (Chaminade College Prep H.S. / St. Louis, Mo.); Quinn Cook (DeMatha H.S. / Bowie, Md.); André Drummond (Capitol Preparatory Magnet School / Middletown, Conn.); Sterling Gibbs (Seton Hall Prep / Scotch Plains, N.J.); Brandan Kearney (Southeastern H.S. / Detroit, Mich.); James McAdoo (Norfolk Christian H.S. / Norfolk, Va.); Johnny O’Bryant (Eastside H.S. / Cleveland, Miss.); Tony Parker (Miller Grove H.S. / Lithonia, Ga.); Chasson Randle (Rock Island H.S. / Rock Island, Ill.); L.J. Rose (Second Baptist School / Houston, Texas); and Adonis Thomas (Melrose H.S. / Cordova, Tenn.).

The 2009-10 USA Basketball Men’s Developmental National Team will be coached by Don Showalter, the head coach of Mid-Prairie High School (Iowa). Showalter is being assisted in 2009 and 2010 by Herman Harried, head coach Lake Clifton High School (Md.), and Kevin Sutton, head coach at Montverde Academy (Fla.).

The team was selected from 19 high school players, all of which were born after January 1, 1993, who trained in the inaugural 2009-10 USA Basketball Men’s Developmental National Team training camp. The camp took place at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO, beginning June 6.

The team will continue to train twice a day through June 12 in Colorado Springs. The team will then travel to Mendoza, Argentina, in hopes of capturing the gold medal at the inaugural 2009 FIBA Americas U16 Championship, which takes place from June 17-21.

The top three finishing nations will qualify to compete in the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championship in Hamburg, Germany in July as they play against U17 national teams from around the globe.

The eight-team tournament in 2009 will feature U16 national teams from the FIBA Americas Zone, which includes North, South and Central America and the Caribbean. Preliminary round-robin play will take place June 17-19, with the top two teams from each preliminary group advancing to the June 20 semifinals. The gold and bronze medal games will be contested June 21.
