Stock Market Trading Results for Wednesday

Interest rates pull Dow, Nasdaq and S&P slightly lower.

Interest rates were the theme of the day on Wednesday as worries over the rising yield on the 10-year Treasury note pushed markets lower. The government sold $19 billion in 10-year Treasury notes at auction. A late rally left the Dow Jones down 24.04 (-0.27%) for the day.

 

The price of crude oil rose above $71 dollars, its highest price of 2009.

 

The Dow’s Top Performer today - Alcoa Inc. (NYSE: AA) closed at $11.51 per share gaining $0.36 (3.23%) on the day.

 

The Dow’s Worst Performer today – Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) closed at $37.62 per share falling $0.62 (-1.62%) on the day.

 

Dow Jones closed at 8,739.02 -24.04 (-0.27%)


Nasdaq closed at 1,853.08 -7.05 (-0.38%)


S&P closed at 939.15 -3.28 (-0.35%)
