Giants Stun Eagles as Vick Breaks Hand

The Philadelphia Eagles' backup quarterback Vince Young dubbed his team a "dream team" before the season started. After three weeks the Eagles are 1-2 and just dropped a game against long time division rivals the New York Giants 29-16. More troubling than the loss may be Michael Vick having to leave the game for the second straight week, this time with a broken right hand.

Once again Vick left the game with the Eagles ahead and once again after the game the Eagles walked off the field with a loss. His counterpart, the Giants' Eli Manning, had a game that few people expected to see against the vaunted Philadelphia secondary. He threw for 254 yards in the victory and did not throw any interceptions, a problem for Manning last season.

Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw ran for 86 yards and picked up 53 more on catches out of the backfield. With a slew of injuries plaguing the team the Giants relied on Victor Cruz at wide receiver and he responded by racking up 110 yards and two touchdowns.

Though the Eagles running back LeSean McCoy had 128 yards rushing for the team, he was still unable to push forward for gains in short yardage situations. On a fourth-and-1 McCoy tried to bounce a run around the right side rather than going hard to the hole and was stopped for a 3-yard loss. The team was similarly unable to punch the ball in from the Giants' 2-yard line on three consecutive plays.

The future of the Eagles' season may rest on the ability of the players to bounce back from these losses and whether or not Vick can play. The preseason buzz surrounding the team may have made them believe that they were better than they are and the hard work it will take to gain ground in the rankings may be more than they are willing to do.
