NBA Finals Scores Game 4: Los Angeles Lakers Edge Orlando Magic in OT to Take Commanding 3-1 Series Lead

Kobe Bryant scored 32 points, dished out 8 assists and grabbed 7 rebounds, Pau Gasol added 16 points and 10 boards and Derek Fisher hit a three-pointer to send the game into overtime and then buried a huge triple in the extra frame to lift the Los Angeles Lakers past the Orlando Magic 99-91 to take a 3-1 lead in their best-of-seven NBA Finals series.

For the Magic Game 4 was a colossal choke job as they had plenty of opportunities to put the game away but 19 turnovers and a 22-37 performance from the free-throw line ultimately did them in as they handed the Lakers the win.

After an impressive first half in which they carried a 12 point advantage into the break Orlando quickly gave it all away in the third as the Lakers opened the frame with an 18-5 run to take a 55-54 lead. The Magic managed to stop the bleeding and didn’t let LA run away with the game but they went into the fourth trailing 67-63.

Los Angeles managed to push their lead to as many as six early in the fourth but Orlando fought their way back and after a three-point play from Mickael Pietrus with 5:37 left in the game the Magic had a 76-75 advantage. Kobe was able to put LA back up by three with 4:48 but the Magic used a 6-0 run to grab a three point lead of their own. Trevor Ariza answered for LA with a triple but Hedo Turkoglu buried a three-pointer and then an 11-footer and the lead was up to 87-82 with 1:34 left on the clock. Gasol was able to get the Lakers to within three with 31 second left but Dwight Howard had a chance to seal the game from the line 11 seconds left. Howard missed both and Derek Fisher made them pay by burying a three-pointer to send the game into OT.

Orlando opened the extra frame with a triple from Rashard Lewis but a pair of buckets from Kobe put the Lakers in front by one. Again Howard had a chance to give the Magic the advantage but hit one of two from the line to even the score. On LA ‘s next possession they managed to grab a pair of offensive rebounds which set up a Derek Fisher three-pointer with 31 seconds on the clock. Turkoglu tried to even the game with a triple but missed and Gasol iced the game with a dunk with 21 seconds left.
