Soy Protein May Help Reduce Heart Disease Risk For Women

Learn Delicious Ways to Add It to Your Diet on BrandStar’s The Balancing Act on Lifetime Television

Heart disease remains the number one killer of women in America, but experts say that consuming more soy protein may help reduce a woman’s risk. The Balancing Act TV show on Lifetime Television presents Dr. Priscilla Samuel from Solae LLC, the world’s leader in developing soy-based ingredients, who will explain the health benefits of soy and tasty ways you can make it part of your daily diet. The segment airs June 19th and in the coming weeks. The segment can also be viewed anytime at http://www.thebalancingact.com/soy.

“Soy protein is clinically proven to help lower total and LDL (“bad”) cholesterol, thereby helping to reduce the risk of heart disease,” explains Samuel.  “In addition, The Food and Drug Administration’s approved health claim states that eating 25 grams of soy protein a day, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.”

Understanding the health benefits of soy should encourage more women to incorporate it into their diets, but many are under the misconception that sources of soy are very limited and not too tasty.

“Adding soy to your daily food regimen is a snap and there are delicious options too,” she says. “Most people think of soy only in terms of tofu, edamame and soy milk,” she explains. But that barely scratches the surface.  Recent advances by Solae have ramped up the flavor of soy and expanded the variety of uses. You can now find it in an increasing number of products on store shelves, and in items that easily fit into everyone’s diet including cereals, breakfast bars, beverages, sports performance products like protein shakes or bars, infant formula, ice cream, veggie burgers and other meat products.
