Melissa Huckaby Pleads Not Guilty to Sandra Cantu Murder

Sunday school teacher Melissa Huckaby pleaded not guilty on Friday to the murder of 8-year-old Sandra Cantu.

Huckaby is accused of murdering and raping Cantu, her daughter’s playmate, and stuffing her body in a suitcase before dumping it in a nearby pond. Cantu disappeared March 27 from the Tracy, California mobile home park where she lived with her mother.

Huckaby, 28, is also charged with child endangerment and furnishing harmful substances in the drugging of a 7-year-old girl and a man three months before Cantu’s murder.
