New Hampshire school bus driver faces DUI

Windham, NH. – A school bus driver is facing intoxicated driving charges after she struck a mailbox with students on board.

None of the students were hurt, however, the parents are understandably outraged.

Police officers on call in Windham stated that they received several calls about a school bus driving erratically early Monday morning. Police eventually located the bus parked in a lot at Windham Middle School.

After the police located the driver they administered field sobriety tests. The police determined that 50 year old Kimberly Hooley was intoxicated. She will need the services of an expert DUI attorney. Hooley told police that she had not been drinking, but had taken prescription medication.

School superintendent, Henry LeBranche, has stated that Hooley has been placed on suspension while they conduct an internal investigation. He has also stated that he does not want Hooley working in his district in the future.

Sources have said that Hooley has worked for the school district for a little over a year and no other incidents of intoxicated driving have been reported. All employees for the bus company, First Student Inc., are required to pass a drug screening when they are hired and are subjected to random drug testing.

People are under the impression that just because they have a prescription for a drug, they are okay to drive.  You can get a DUI no matter what the substance is and when faced with this charge it is important to retain a DUI lawyer.

With the help of a DUI attorney, the offender may be able to plea to a lesser charge or have their penalties and fines reduced.
