Damion James to Return to Texas Longhorns for Senior Season, Puts NBA on Hold

Damion James has said he has pulled his name from the 2009 NBA Draft and will return for his senior season at Texas after learning he wasn’t a lock as a first-round pick.

James had until June 25 to withdraw his name from the 2009 NBA Draft but opted to cancel a workout he had scheduled with the New Jersey Nets and inform Texas head coach Rick Barnes that he would be back.

While James had been invited to participate in the NBA Draft combine in Chicago his workout wasn’t believed to be enough to convince NBA teams he would be a first-rounder.
