A group of nine foreign nationals including seven Germans, a Briton and a Korean have reportedly been kidnapped by Shia rebels in northern Yemen.
While Yemen’s interior ministry has pointed the finger at Huithi Zadi the Shia rebel group has denied the accusations and a spokesman for the group called the charges “a government conspiracy to tarnish the Huthis' reputation.”
According to reports the foreigners had been on a picnic on Friday in Saada when they were kidnapped. The kidnappings have not been confirmed by the native countries but all three are said to be in contact with the Yemeni government in an attempt to locate the group.
There were seven Germans in the group including two nurses, an engineer and his wife and three children. A British engineer and a South Korean teacher were also part of the group.
