NASCAR Mexico driver Carlos Pardo was killed in a race Sunday
in Pueblo, east of Mexico City. Organizers say Pardo was leading the race in
the 97th lap when his car was nudged by another from behind, which caused Pardo’s
car to slide sideways into a wall.
The car hit the wall going about 120 mph and burst into
flames. Pardo was pulled from the wreckage and rushed to hospital. He died 45
minutes later.
Pardo, who had 10 victories out of 74 races, was declared
winner of the race. No other details on the crash were available.
