Johnny Depp teams up with Bono, Bryan Ferry and Eliza Carthy for swashbuckling sea shanties in third installment of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Johnny Depp has enlisted the help of some eager new buccaneers to lay down the tracks for the final Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Perhaps Depp was inspired by Bono’s ‘Silver & Gold’ or Bryan Ferry’s ‘Sea Breezes’ when he approached the producers at Disney with his idea of pirates singing the shanties while on the boat. It could have been Eliza Carthy’s ‘Just as the Tide was Flowing’ when the thought swept over Depp. Whatever it was that stirred Jack Sparrow to enroll these musical icons it worked.

Depp was hoping to have Keith Richards involved but the Rolling Stones guitarist injured himself falling from a tree just before recording was to begin. Richards will be playing Depp’s father in the swan song of the Pirates trilogy.

The shanties, songs chanted by pirates, will be released on CD.
