8 Afghan Police Killed in Taliban Attack On Police Post

A police post in Helmand province, Afghanistan was attacked by Taliban militants Tuesday night, leaving at least 8 Afghan police officers dead and three others wounded. The post was completely destroyed.

Helmand spokesman Daud Ahmadi said the militants were aided by at least one officer at the post.

"It is now clear that a policeman from the post had contacts with the Taliban who invited the Taliban to conduct the attack," Ahmadi said, adding that the officer fled with the militants after the assault.

Meanwhile, a roadside bomb made by Taliban militants killed a district police chief in Uruzgan province. Chora police chief Mohammad Gul died en route to Trin Kot when his vehicle hit the bomb. Three of his bodyguards were wounded.
