Ex Heroin Junkie Talks Narconon Drug Rehab

Trois-Rivieres, Quebec -  “I wasn’t interested in rehab – I wasn’t even interested in coming off drugs, to me there wasn’t a problem.  I was just really sad about what I did to my parents.”  In an apartment tucked away in beautiful Montreal, the Narconon drug rehab program had a chance to interview a former graduate from 1998.  Sabrina Andrews gave us a powerful insight into her own past demons, and her experiences as a heroin addict and run away living in Montreal.  Her younger sister Samantha, whose apartment we were filming this interview in, accompanied Sabrina.  Samantha also gave us a look at how she saw her sister’s drug abuse, and the toll it took on her and the rest of the family.  Sam said in her interview:  “I didn’t know where she was, where she went.  All I knew was the cops were coming over and they needed an updated picture.”

“I couldn’t see past the age of 30, it was too unreal for me,” says Sabrina in the interview, “I was just living on the streets, to me that was freedom – to me that was living the life.”  When Sabrina was using drugs she was living all over Canada, as she had ran away from home at a very young age.  “Before I came to Narconon, I was living on the streets,” comments Sabrina, “I was in Toronto at the time, and I was sleeping in parks.”  Sabrina never realized the impact of her running away and becoming hooked on drugs had on her baby sister, and her parents.  “My parents told me she was gone,” comments Samantha, “they had no idea where she was – they were scared.”  Both Sabrina’s sister and her parent’s never saw much of a future for Sabrina, and all they wanted, was for her to come home.  Sam said in the interview:  “I didn’t see her having a life – I don’t think any of us thought much further than getting her home.”

During this emotional interview many long forgotten memories were talked about.  Sabrina when asked where she saw her life at that time compared it to two different viewpoints.

“At the time I thought this is awesome - just doing drugs.  I never thought drugs were good, I knew it was wrong.  I just really enjoyed what I was doing.”  Now over ten years later, Sabrina has a different viewpoint.  “My viewpoint today – there is no way I would be alive.  My awareness, my health, was just being more dulled.  I felt pain all the time if I didn’t do drugs.”
