Several Romanian families who fled their homes in Belfast following a string of racial attacks will be temporarily rehoused by the government in Northern Ireland.
On Tuesday night a number of the Romanians, members of the Roma ethnic group, abandoned their homes and sought refuge in a church hall after windows were smashed and verbal threats were made by gangs in the area.
The attacks have been going on for several months and now the police are being questioned concerning their response time to episodes.
As many as 20 families are now being relocated in temporary housing while discussions are held concerning their options.
