Cities Bidding for 2016 Olympic Games Deliver Presentations to IOC

The four remaining cities battling it out to host the 2016 Olympic Games were in the Swiss city of Lausanne on Wednesday to deliver presentations to the International Olympic Committee detailing why they were best prepared to host the event.

Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo are all in the running as they each had 45 minutes to make their pitch and then another 45 minutes for a question and answer session in which they fielded queries from IOC members.

According to IOC president Jacques Rogge all four cities remain close and the decision will ultimately come down to “not the economics but leaving a sustainable legacy. When we leave, we want it to be a bonus for the city, the region and the country.”

Many believe Chicago has a slight edge at the moment due in large part to the support of U.S. President Barack Obama.
