According to Robin Williams’ publicist Mara Buxbaum the Oscar Award winning actor “found himself drinking again and has decided to take proactive measures to deal with this for his own well-being and the well-being of his family.”
Throughout the late ‘70’s and mid ‘80’s Williams mixed fame with a party lifestyle. A lifestyle that included mass amounts of drugs and alcohol, an admission he has often made. Recognizing that he had a problem the comedian sobered up and reinvented himself in the Hollywood scene. Films such as Dead Poets Society, The Fisher King, Good Will Hunting and One Hour Photo established that the man who built his early career in comedy could portray serious roles as well.
His performance in Good Will Hunting landed him an Oscar for best supporting actor and he has won four Golden Globe Awards and been honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award as well.
He is currently staring in the thriller The Night Listener.
Williams has been scheduled for several new films in the coming year and his publicist said, “He looks forward to returning to work this fall to support his upcoming film releases.”
Among his upcoming films, License to Wed with Mandy Moore and Man of the Year with Christopher Walken.
