Randal Weeks, founder of Aidan Gray Home – an award-winning manufacturer and designer of European-inspired lighting, home furnishings and garden accessories, is launching his new Pink Campaign to fight breast cancer and honor his late mother, Marlene Weeks. Ms. Weeks lost her battle against breast cancer on October 14, 2010.
"My mom was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and especially a fighter," Weeks said. "In her memory, Aidan Gray Home has introduced five new lamps. Fifty percent of the purchase price will go to breast cancer awareness and research. Each of the lamps has a subtle touch of pink plus each lamp shade has a light pink trim hidden inside the base of the shade, so that when you glance at the shade in the room, it looks normal, but when you turn the light off or are just sitting there, you might catch the pink band. The hint of pink
was designed specifically to remind us that we are joining the fight against breast cancer. I think my mom would be embarrassed by all the fuss – but would be very proud we are joining forces to fight this horrific disease.”
The Aidan Gray Home Pink Campaign features five products available online at www.AidanGrayHome.com or in Aidan Gray Home showrooms in Dallas and Atlanta. Products may be ordered only during the month of October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The five new products for Aidan Gray’s Pink Campaign include:
Graceful Elegance Candle Chandelier
The graceful arms of this chandelier are elegantly balanced with gold drops that hang from above. It will hold tapered candles that, when lit, will bounce a beautiful gold glow across the room.
“The name was inspired by a comment that was made to me by a friend of my mothers who told me that my mother had such grace and elegance when she was part of the officers’ wives club and used to plan parties. She was into the details and wanted to make sure that every party was as refined as it could be.”
Eternal Flame Lamp
What this lamp's petite frame lacks in size it makes up with its beauty. Meant to honor the many women who have been taken from us due to breast cancer, this little lamp holds a flame that will burn in their honor eternally.
“We named this lamp after a note I received reminding me that regardless of whether my mother was here or not, that she would live eternally in me.”
Pillar of Strength Lamp
In memory of women who have been the pillars of strength in our homes, this sophisticated lamp honors the many battles that were lost due to breast cancer.
“This name came from a conversation I had with my mother about her being my pillar of strength.”
Foundation of Hope Lamp
The silver flecks that shine and flicker on this lamp represent the women in our lives that established a foundation of hope in our hearts. The memories and hope left behind by these incredible women still ignite our hearts today.
“We called this lamp the foundation of hope because for the families of women who are going through this, you feel very venerable and very unable to help. It was to remind us that the foundation our mothers created for us is what gave the hope and stability that we could be supportive and strong for them.”
Attitude is Everything Lamp
For the beautiful women who have battled breast cancer, this lamp is there to remind us that Attitude is everything!
“My mother was a firm believer that when fighting cancer, that your attitude was everything. You need to be as positive, as motivated and as driven as you could be to make sure that you had the cancer, it did not have you. As a cancer survivor for 20 years, she lived that, she was inspired by that, and she told anyone who ever entered the battle that their attitude was everything.”
