In today’s tough economic times, it’s not easy taking time away from work to deal with alcoholism and drug addiction. Now more than ever, people are looking for low-cost but effective options instead of going to inpatient rehab.
A new program in the Twin Cities offers an opportunity to recover from alcoholism and drug addiction. The program director Harry Cunliffe says it’s aimed at working men and women who want to recover from their alcoholism and drug dependency, but who cannot take time out from their busy lives. The 18-week evening program teaches people how to recover from their addiction on an on-going basis. Participants learn the basic principles of recovery as outlined in the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.
“The economy is tough right now,” says Cunliffe, “and people are worried that if they go to residential treatment they won’t have a job when they’re done. We’re having great success with this program,” says Cunliffe, “and the outcomes are comparable to our residential program.”
The Retreat is a non-profit organization that provides non-clinical, educational recovery services grounded in the Twelve Step principles of Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon. The Retreat offers gender specific 30-day residential programs for both men and women, an 18-week evening program, a 4-day residential family program, long term sober living residences and weekend spiritual retreats.
