Parents Finding More Value in Teen Academic Camps

Teen summer camps that offer academic enrichment are seeing success while other camps struggle amid the economic woes. One such program is SuperCamp, which offers teen academic camps at seven colleges nationwide.

"Clearly, parents are looking for greater value in their summer camp investment this year," said SuperCamp president, Bobbi DePorter. "They want to know that there will be a long-term return to their summer investment and that's what they get from SuperCamp."

Ms. DePorter points to SuperCamp's twenty-seven history and over 50,000 middle school and high school graduates as proof of her program's significant track record. She also indicated that an independent study with over 6,000 SuperCamp graduates showed remarkable results in terms of students citing improved grades, confidence, self-esteeem, and motivation.

Another indication of SuperCamp's positive results and effect on graduates is the number of second-generation SuperCampers now being enrolled.

The success rate of SuperCamp grads going to college also is impressive. In an online survey with over 150 graduates of SuperCamp's academic summer camps, 88 percent reported going on to college directly after finishing high school. This compares to a national average of 65 percent.

In the same study, 41 percent of graduates reported getting some scholarship support going into college. Of this group, 57 percent said they received $10,000 or more in scholarships.

SuperCamp has some openings remaining in its middle school and high school camps at various college locations. Parents can visit www.QLN.com and click on the SuperCamp link or call an enrollment specialist at 800-285-3276.
