Ricky Barnes Sits Atop Leader Board at U.S. Open with Record Setting Performance

Ricky Barnes set a U.S. Open 36-hole scoring record to claim the top spot on the leader board at Bethpage Black after firing an 8-under 132 over two rounds, one stroke ahead of Lucas Glover.

Barnes topped the performances of Jim Furyk and Vijay Singh who each put together a 133 36-hole performance at the U.S. Open when it was played at Olympia Fields in 2003.

While Barnes sits atop the leader board at Bethpage Black he has some company right behind him as Glover sits one stroke behind following an amazing 64 in his second round. Glover had a shot at equaling the major record for a round as he lined up a 20-foot birdie putt on his final hole but he left it short and settled for par.

Glover is sitting one stroke ahead of first round leader Mike Weir who remains at 6-under while David Duval, Azuma Yano and Peter Hanson are all at 3-under.
