Kobe Bryant Says He’ll Stay with Los Angeles Lakers, Phil Jackson Remains Undecided

Kobe Bryant, fresh off his fourth NBA title, has said he will remain with the Los Angeles Lakers even if he decides to opt-out of his existing contract with the club.

The NBA Finals MVP told reporters “I'm not going anywhere. I know I ain't going nowhere, so it's just a waste of our breaths just talking about it.” Bryant, who has played his entire 13-year career with the Lakers, could opt-out in order to position himself for a longer deal.

While Bryant appears set to return the same isn’t as certain for head coach Phil Jackson who has said his health will determine whether or not he seeks an eleventh NBA title next year. Jackson snapped his tie with Red Auerbach for most titles in NBA history after the Lakers knocked off the Orlando Magic in five games for the championship this year.

Jackson, 64, missed a pair of games this year due to plantar fasciitis, a condition that caused pain and swelling in his lower legs.
