Italian Mafia Fugitive Arrested in Venezuela after 8 Years on the Run

Italian police have confirmed that a high ranking Mafia fugitive linked to Sicily’s Cosa Nostra crime network ‘Ndrangheta and Colombia drug cartels has been arrested in Venezuela after spending eight years on the run.

Police nabbed Salvatore Miceli in the capital of Caracas after a surveillance operation confirmed his involvement in an extensive “drug trafficking sector” that involved various crime groups from several countries.

Miceli has been listed as one of Italy’s most dangerous men and his arrest is yet another blow to the Sicilian Mafia which has had several high-ranking figures arrested over the last three years.
