Severe Turbulence Causes Injuries On Two Flights

A total of 18 people were injured over the weekend on two separate flights that experienced severe turbulence before landing at Logan Airport in Boston.

Authorities say seven of the injured were on board JetBlue Airways flight 852 from San Juan, Puerto Rico. The majority suffered back or neck injuries while one person was burned by hot coffee. Four of the seven received medical treatment. The flight was carrying 130 passengers and 5 crew members.

The rest of the injuries occurred on board Lufthansa flight 429, which was bound for Munich, Germany from Charlotte, North Carolina with 245 passengers and 18 crew members. The flight was diverted to Boston because of turbulence. No details on those injuries were released.
