Long-Term Sobriety is Achieved with Narconon Drug Rehab Program

When Thomas Stone* found out his daughter was addicted to heroin he didn’t know how to handle it. “There were no answers right in front of us,” he says. “The only thing we could do was learn about addiction, read about it and try to find the right drug rehab program that we thought could help her.”

The Stone family went on the Internet and looked at many different types of drug rehabilitation programs. They soon found out that the programs that looked like they provided the best results for their daughter were not necessarily the drug treatment options covered by their plan.  As an employee in the school system, Thomas was also concerned about the short-term drug rehab programs his insurance was recommending; as he has seen many school-aged students try this type of treatment without positive results.

“The conflict we were facing was that we had health insurance to pay for short-term drug treatment but we found that long-term drug rehabilitation produced the most stable result, “he says. “We didn’t want our child’s treatment to become a revolving door.”

When it was all said and done the Stones found a long-term inpatient
drug rehab program with stable results for permanent recovery from addiction for their daughter. They decided that it was far more important to get long-term sobriety for their child, even if they had to figure out a way to pay for it out- of-pocket.   Desperate for a real solution and worried that their child could overdose on drugs, die or end up in jail at any moment, the entire family knew they had to act fast and choose a program that they truly believed in. That program was the Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program.

“In our case we had to find something that was the most logical approach to handing our daughter’s heroin addiction,” says Mr. Stone. “We knew this was the right approach and the cost became secondary. People invest money in homes and cars all the time, so when it comes to your child’s life, it’s really a no-brainer.”

Today, with their daughter celebrating 8 years off drugs, the Stone’s have no doubt that they made the right decision sending their daughter to Narconon. “Today my daughter is happy, productive and independent,” he says. “She is married and has a child – we couldn’t be happier with the results and know that the Narconon program is what helped her. It was the right thing to do.”

The Narconon program is a long-term drug and alcohol rehabilitation program that achieves a more than 70% success rate for permanent recovery. Narconon currently operates more than 120 centers in 40 different countries and has been effectively handling substance abuse for more than 43 years.

In choosing a program, Mr. Stone recommends three very important things. “The first thing is family support,” he says. “The second thing is beleiving in the program that you choose and knowing that it will work and number three is not enabling your loved one.” Mr. Stone ads that he had to tell his daughter that she had to make it work once she went into
drug rehab and that doing a treatment program well was a commitment.

“Finding out that your child is addicted to drugs is probably one of the hardest things in the world to confront,” says Stone. “I am just grateful that we found the right solution – that we found Narconon."
