MLB Scores Monday: Colorado Rockies Continue to Roll, NY Mets Edge St. Louis Cardinals

The Colorado Rockies (37-33) continued their amazing June run wining their sixth straight and 16 of their last17 after beating the Los Angeles Angels (36-32) 11-1 on Monday night. Aaron Cook tossed seven strong innings, allowing just three hits and one run while the Rockies offense pounded out 13 hits as Brad Hawpe went 2-4 with a HR and three RBIs while Seth Smith went 2-4 with an HR four RBIs.

The New York Mets (35-33) moved to within 1.5 games of the NL East leading Philadelphia Phillies after beating the St. Louis Cardinals (39-32) 6-4 on Monday night. NY put a pair of runs on the board in the first and then single runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth and eighth to get Tim Redding his first win of the year.

In a game scheduled to make up for an earlier rainout the Atlanta Braves (33-36) shutout the Chicago Cubs (34-32) 2-0 as Javier Vazquez improved to 5-6 on the year after striking out five before a trio of relievers iced the game. Atlanta got RBIs from Chipper Jones and Nate McLouth in the win.

The Oakland Athletics (31-38) got another strong start from Trevor Cahill as the rookie improved to 5-5 on the year after beating the San Francisco Giants (37-32) 5-1 on Monday night. While Bobby Crosby finished the game 1-4 he managed to collect three RBIs with a double and a groundout.
