Pakistani authorities in Baluchistan province have confirmed the arrests of more than 60 people suspected of taking part in Tuesday’s attack on a passenger bus carrying Shiite Muslims. Gunmen allegedly belonging to the Sunni militant group Lashkar e Jhangvi ambushed the bus and opened fire on the passengers, resulting in 13 deaths. Six others were wounded.
“Police backed by Frontier Corps and other law-enforcement agencies carried out raids and search drive in different localities of Quetta, including Sariab, Western Bypass, Chakki Shawani, Kharotabad and Killi Qambrani, and took into custody more than 60 suspects,” a local police official confirms.
The official said interrogations are being conducted and anyone declared innocent will be freed immediately.
