Weather causes a two-fold increase in Los Angeles accidents

The California Highway Patrol reported that the number of accidents in Los Angeles County almost doubled in Wednesday between the hours of 6 and 8am over last week.

There were at least 66 accidents which occurred during the first major storm of the season, last week at the same time there were 35 accidents. Police attribute many of the accidents to speed, which is a factor in many collisions.  When the roads are wet drivers should slow down, but many do not and this can result in personal injury or destruction of property, these victims may be entitled to compensation that a Los Angeles accident attorney can obtain.

Most of the incidents happed on highway on-ramps, off-ramps and interchanges.

At least three people were fatally injured in the accidents. One of these collisions was caused by a driver who crossed over the northbound lanes of 605 and was struck by a big rig tow truck driver, who attempted to brake, but was unable stop before hitting her vehicle. The police are investigating the fatal accidents and have not citied anyone at this time.

Injury victims often require extensive medical care which can be costly and makes it necessary to hire a Los Angeles accident lawyer to seek reparation.

In extreme weather, drivers don’t always take precautions to protect themselves and other drivers. Their negligence can lead to serious or fatal injuries. The victims of negligent drivers deserve justice and a Los Angeles accident attorney will hold these people accountable for their carelessness.
