Authorities discovered over two dozen bodies in eastern Mexico on Thursday. The Mexican Navy released a statement saying they found the bodies while conducting an operation against organized crime in the port city of Veracruz.
A total of 32 bodies were found. Twenty of them were in a residential neighborhood and eleven others were found in a subdivision. One other body was found in a third house. No other details were released.
Thursday’s discovery comes just two weeks after gunmen left two trucks full of bodies in the middle of a busy road in Boca del Rio. The trucks were left with their backdoors standing open, causing some of the bodies to fall out on the street. Authorities counted 12 women and 23 men among the dead. The majority of the victims had criminal backgrounds in drug trafficking, homicide, extortion and kidnapping.
