NYPD officer sued for sexual harassment files slander lawsuit

A New York Police department boss who is being investigated for sexual harassment has filed his own lawsuit against his accuser for slander, according to the New York Daily News.

Deputy Inspector Thomas Connolly is accused of repeatedly sexually harassing Sgt. Nelson Fernandez, who he supervised. Connolly, commander of the Transit District 4, filed his own lawsuit alleging that Fernandez’s accusations are slander and baseless.

This past April, Fernandez filed a lawsuit alleging repeat incidents of sexual harassment. Fernandez told the Daily News that Connolly would call him into his office and suggestively use his pen to mimic oral sex. According to Fernandez, this happened several times. Fernandez’s lawsuit also stated that Connolly would tell him he was sexy. A sexual harassment lawyer will work to prove this in court so the victim is eligible for damages.

After discussing the harassment with fellow employees Fernandez they encouraged him to contact the NYPD’s Office if Equal Employment Opportunity.

Fernandez stated that his job was not threatened after he filed his sexual harassment lawsuit. However, a number of people who are harassed face retaliation and find it necessary to retain sexual harassment lawyers to recoup lost wages.

The environment created by any type of harassment is detrimental to any workplace. Any person who is harassed can hire a sexual harassment lawyer to make sure their rights are protected and they are no longer subjected to this abuse.
