The coroner has released the final autopsy results from the August 11th death of former Warrant singer, Jani Lane. Immediately after his death, the initial autopsy from the Los Angeles County Coroner‘s office proved to be inconclusive, necessitating further toxicology tests. Last week, the results of the toxicology tests were revealed, indicating that Lane had died from accidental alcohol poisoning that is caused by consuming more alcohol than the body can metabolize within a period of time.
Lane’s struggle with addiction had been well-publicized throughout the years. In 2005, Lane joined the VH1 series "Celebrity Fit Club”, where his struggles with alcohol problems were highlighted. According to Lane’s sister, as recently as June 19, 2011, he had checked himself into a three-day detox program.
“Tragedy strikes the entertainment industry once again,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside
Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center. “Mr. Lane was a mere 47 years old, his successful life cut short by a treatable condition. While the pressures of the entertainment industry can be difficult to bear, and the challenges often seem insurmountable, that’s just not the case. There is help and many individuals, both in the field of performing arts and others with varying vocations, have been able to overcome their demons and get into recovery. The key is to eliminate the stigmas that comes from seeking help and entering into alcohol and drug treatment.”
