Summary

Ok so this is my first smartphone (i know, i know...welcome to the 21st century). As a LONG time iPod touch user, I was dead-set on an iPhone. AT&T salesman managed to talk me out of an iPhone (a combination of reasons, mostly circumstantial) and into an HTC Status. Not knowing much about it, a quick CNET review search showed that it got a "very good" review from the editors so I figured "hey, why not?"




So far, overall I've been pleasantly surprised. I really like the Android OS. I feel like I'm cheating on Apple, but I can't stress that enough. I'd say the Status itself is a very nice bridge from a messaging phone to a smartphone that has all the functionality of a smartphone with the ease of use and some of the design elements of a messaging phone. The camera is also very nice and does a good job of taking pictures in a variety of lighting conditions. SD cards are cheap and that definitely eliminates the memory issues. I haven't searched extensively but it seems like there are a variety of nice apps available.

Now for the bad. Don't get me wrong, I like facebook as much as the next 25-year old, but all the fb features seem a *bit* excessive and do make it feel a bit like a teenage girl's phone. Additionally, the battery life SUCKS. I mean sucks. I got this phone on Sunday afternoon, it's now Wednesday afternoon and I've had to charge it 3 times."
