Sensory Networks, the leader in acceleration technology for network security applications, today announced that its NodalCore acceleration technology has been selected by McAfee to power the company's Secure Web Gateway (SWG) product line. The McAfee Secure Web Gateway is the industry's first enterprise-class, high-performance Web security appliance solution that delivers comprehensive protection against Web-borne threats.
By leveraging Sensory Networks' security acceleration technology, McAfee's Secure Web Gateway appliances are now able to scan Internet traffic for threats such as viruses and spyware at speeds that are higher than what was previously possible. As a result, the Secure Web Gateway product line raises the bar in price-performance positioning for its McAfee filtering technologies that block spyware, inappropriate Web content, phishing, known viruses, worms, and Trojans.
"Our partnership with Sensory Networks helps McAfee to solve the issue of web security appliances not being able to keep up with increasing network speeds," said Jack Marsal, Group Product Marketing Manager at McAfee. "With Sensory, we now have the ability to maintain the accuracy and breadth of coverage that customers have come to expect from McAfee while delivering unprecedented network performance."
McAfee's award-winning Secure Web Gateway has won awards for being the best, most effective product to stop spyware from entering a network. By 2008, research firm IDC projects the secure content management market will increase to $7.5 billion with McAfee being one of the leading providers in this segment.
"We are very pleased to be partnered with McAfee in helping them bring to market industry-leading security solutions that are not only recognized for their performance, but also provide an architecturally robust foundation upon which more applications and innovative features can be added over time," said Matt Barrie, CEO for Sensory Networks. "Unlike other security platforms that drop packets or reduce the number of viruses they are searching for in order to run faster, Sensory's NodalCore high-speed engine enables McAfee's Secure Web Gateway appliances to scan network traffic for web-borne threats at wire speed without sacrificing accuracy or coverage."
Sensory Networks' hardware acceleration technology increases the performance of all types of security applications, such as anti-virus, anti-spam, content filtering, firewall and intrusion detection systems. Acting as the performance engine, Sensory Networks' NodalCore technology enables security vendors to concentrate on their core competencies and compete on features, knowing that their applications will continue to run at wire speed. Sensory Networks partners with best-of-breed security application providers and security appliance vendors, revolutionizing the way security appliances are developed.
