The New England Patriots were trailing the Dallas Cowboys 16-13 late in the fourth quarter on Sunday. Then Tom Brady went to work. He drove the Patriots down the field until, with 22 seconds left in the game, he hit Aaron Hernandez on an 8-yard slant for a touchdown. The final drive started with just over two and a half minutes on the clock and 80 yards away from the end zone but ended with a New England victory.
The game started sloppy with both Brady and Cowboy's quarterback Tony Romo throwing interceptions and incomplete passes. The teams seemed to lack the rhythm that elite teams need to succeed, and mindless penalties were only making the problems worse. Sunday's game was the first time in 13 games that the Patriots have been held under 30 points.
After the Patriots allowed Dallas to tie the game 3-3 in the first quarter, they fumbled the kickoff and Dallas was able to recover. Five plays later Dallas's Tashard Choice fumbled and the Patriots recovered, leading to another field goal.
The Patriots are well on their way to another successful season and it seems as though the Cowboys are going to have a hard time getting out of the whole that they have dug for themselves. After three tough losses by a combined 10 points there is a lot of room for improvement.
