A woman, who worked as a receptionist for a private company that provides criminal probation services, filed a sexual harassment lawsuit last week, according to the Miami Herald.
The woman who was unnamed in the original story by the Associated Press alleges that one of the firm’s probation officers subjected her to sexual harassment. The lawsuit names Court Programs Inc., Secure Alert Inc., and 10 anonymous men as defendants in the case. Sexual harassment lawyers make it possible for victims of harassment to seek out damages.
The lawsuit claims that one of the probation officers sexually harassed her beginning in 2009, which escalated on 2010. On one occasion the officer, James Beasley lifted her by her ankles and told her if she was in a different position it would be right for a sexual encounter. Beasley also put the woman in a head lock and forced her to smell his hand, after telling her where his hand had been.
The woman went to her supervisors, who did not take any action to halt the abuse. The failure of supervisors to address harassment is one of the primary reasons people turn to sexual harassment lawyers.
The situation escalated when someone slashed the Beasley’s tires in the employee parking lot and he accused the receptionist. Beasley threatened to kill her and hurt her disabled husband.
The woman’s lawsuit alleges that the harassment caused her severe emotional trauma. Victims of workplace harassment often utilize the expertise of sexual harassment lawyers to get favorable judgments in these cases.
