Giuliana Rancic’s quest to get pregnant may have saved her life. The E! News host revealed on Monday’s Today Show that she was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer while preparing to undergo another round of in-vitro fertilization.
Rancic told Ann Curry doctors insisted she get a mammogram before IVF treatment because pregnancy hormones may “accelerate” cancer. “I never in my wildest dreams expected anything to be wrong,” the 37-year-old said, adding that she was “sobbing” after doctors revealed she had breast cancer.
"I will be okay, because I found it early. I'm doing surgery this coming week, and then I go to radiation for six and a half weeks,” she told Curry.
As for how husband Bill Rancic took the news, the Style Network host said he has been very supportive. "Bill is unbelievable. He lets me cry when I want to cry. He just lets me feel what I want to feel," Rancic said.
"I still want this baby ... because this baby has saved my life," she added. "I truly feel God was looking out after me … If I had gotten pregnant later down the line, I could have been a lot sicker."
