Michael Jackson, King of Pop, Dead After Suffering Cardiac Arrest At 50

Michael Jackson, the world-famous pop star, has died after suffering a cardiac arrest on Thursday afternoon. He was 50.

 

Jackson was pronounced dead after slipping into a coma while at the hospital, according to reports. The official cause of death has not been announced.

 

Jackson was hospitalized after an ambulance responded to a call from his Holmby Hills home at 12:21 pm PT. He was rushed to UCLA Medical Center.

 

Jackson, known to many as the “King of Pop,” is arguably the most successful entertainer of all-time. He was earned 13 Grammy Awards, 13 No. 1 singles and sold more than 750 million albums worldwide.

 

His career began with his brothers Jackie, Toriano “Tito”, Jermaine, and Marlon as the Jackson 5. Later in his career, he went solo and vaulted his career further into superstardom. His album “Thriller” is the highest-selling album of all-time and was certified Double Diamond by the RIAA, selling between 47 and 109 million copies.

 

Jackson, the seventh of nine children, is survived by his parents Joe and Katherine Jackson; brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Randy; sisters Rebbie, LaToya and Janet; and his children Michael “Prince” Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince “Blanket” Michael Jackson II.
