Giuliana Rancic is confident she will win her battle with breast cancer. The E! News host will undergo surgery soon and will then begin six weeks of radiation treatment. Speaking to Ryan Seacrest on E! yesterday, Rancic said she has a good chance of survival because doctors found the cancer early.
"I'm going to survive, I'm going to be just fine. I'm not broken, but that's because I found it early,” she said. "Truly, Ryan, the bottom line is, the earlier you find it, the better chance you have of survival."
Early detection is one of the main reasons Rancic decided to reveal her diagnosis. "There was a long period of time where I thought I was going to hide this from everyone, that I didn't need to tell anyone. And then as time went by, I would see friends of mine that didn't know, and I would think, 'God, I wish I could let her know what I'm going through,' so that she goes and gets checked,” she explained.
Rancic’s cancer was discovered while she was preparing to undergo another round of in-vitro fertilization. Doctors insisted she get a mammogram before IVF because pregnancy hormones can “accelerate” cancer. “I never in my wildest dreams expected anything to be wrong,” the 37-year-old told Ann Curry on Monday’s Today Show.
As for how husband Bill Rancic took the news, Rancic told Curry he has been very supportive. "Bill is unbelievable. He lets me cry when I want to cry. He just lets me feel what I want to feel," she added.
