Just six months after adopting a baby girl, Law and Order star Mariska Hargitay and her husband Peter Hermann have adopted a son. Andrew Nicolas was born over the summer and is the third child for Hargitay and Hermann, who have a 5-year-old biological son name August in addition to adopted daughter Amaya Josephine.
“We never in a million year thought it would happen this quickly, but something inside of us knew that this was right, and we said, ‘Yes, yes, yes!’” Hargitay, 47, says of adopting Andrew. “We knew this was our guy. Everything about it felt right. It felt divinely right.”
In fact, Hargitay says Amaya is very happy to have a new playmate. “They’ll lie in the crib together, and she’ll hold his hand and put her arm around him,” she adds. “She’s already so protective of him.”
