A woman who worked as a field coordinator and production coordinator for the MTV reality show “The Hill” has filed a lawsuit against the network and New Remote Productions alleging she was sexually harassed and pressured to smoke marijuana. She also claims that she was denied breaks for meals, and denied over-time pay.
Eliza Sproul and the crew of “The Hills” went to film an episode in Costa Rica last May. Sproul was teamed up with a local man, named only as Andres, hired by MTV, who hit on her and pressured her to smoke marijuana. Her lawsuit states that when they were driving together Andres removed his shirt and began to make sexual advances.
A sexual harassment attorney can end harassment when a person’s employer has failed to act on allegations.
When the crew returned from Costa Rica, Sproul was subjected to jokes, insinuating that she had a sexual encounter with Andres. In another instance, Sproul was forced to drive around inebriated crew members who made offensive jokes.
Sproul’s lawsuit also stated that her mental health degraded because of the hostile work environment and she had to be check into a hospital. In these situations, a sexual harassment lawyer will ask the defendants to pay for a person’s medical bills.
Sproul was later fired and she claims it was retaliation. Sexual harassment lawyers often seek back pay for their clients.
