Drug Rehab Admissions on the Rise in North America

Cannabis is the most widely used and cultivated drug in the world today.

The problems concerning drugs and drug crimes makes news headlines almost every day.  For the most part, these news broadcasts show little to no changes in the current problems facing the world.  According to the annual release of the World Drug Report, which is released by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, there have been some down trending statistics.  In Afghanistan, which controls 93% of all the opium cultivation in the world, the report shows a 19% decrease.  In Columbia, where almost half of the world’s cocaine comes from, this country has seen an 18% decrease in cultivation and a 28% decline in production.  Overall the production of coca is at a five year low.

This report is coming just two day before the United Nations International Day Against Drug
Abuse and Drug Trafficking.  On June 26, all of the
Narconon drug rehab programs across the planet will be celebrating this day, and showing their support for a drug free planet.  Narconon Trois-Rivieres in Canada will be hosting a special graduation that will be recorded and later released on the Narconon drug rehab blog and website.

One of the more disturbing pieces of information in this report is the information showing that the THC (tetrehydrocannabinol) content in the hydroponic
marijuana grown in North America has increased.  This is has been seen in the increasing health problems and the increased admissions into drug rehab and treatment facilities. Cannabis is the most widely used and cultivated drug in the world today.  All throughout developed countries, the production of synthetic drugs is on the decline; however, in the developing world synthetic drugs such as: amphetamines, methamphetamine's, ecstasy are on the rise.

There is still much work to be done to handle the world’s drug problems, and the International Day Against Drug Abuse is an excellent way to show support.
