Giuliana Rancic is at home recovering from breast cancer surgery, her husband Bill Rancic told the Today Show Thursday. Bill said the E! News host is “doing well” after the 2 hour operation in which doctors removed cancer from both breasts.
"It was kind of a long day. There's many steps in the process when you go through this. Because it was on both breasts, the morning started off with a two hour MRI where they had to put a guide wire in so the surgeon knew exactly what area to remove,” he explained.
"She's a trooper. She pulled through it and was kind of relieved to get it over with and get the cancer out. She's doing well at home and recovering,” he added.
Giuliana revealed her diagnosis on the Today Show Monday. The cancer was found while Giuliana was preparing to undergo another round of in-vitro fertilization. Doctors insisted she get a mammogram before IVF because pregnancy hormones can “accelerate” the disease. “I never in my wildest dreams expected anything to be wrong,” the 37-year-old told Ann Curry.
"I will be okay, because I found it early," she added.
After recovering from surgery, Giuliana will undergo six weeks of radiation treatment.
