In an official statement released Thursday, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy revealed they have named their new daughter Giulia. Baby Giulia was born Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at a clinic in Paris. She weighed in at 7 1/12 lbs.
“I am deeply touched by the many messages of congratulations that I have received since the birth of our daughter Giulia," Bruni-Sarkozy wrote on her official website. "On this happy occasion, my husband joins me in expressing our warmest thanks to all those of you who sent us these tokens of your kindness."
Giulia is the fourth child for Sarkozy and the second for Bruni-Sarkozy. Sarkozy, 56, has three sons from two previous marriages while Bruni-Sarkozy is mom to a son from a previous marriage. The couple announced the pregnancy in July.
