Texas Rangers Rally Late to Even the World Series 1-1 with the St. Louis Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals were three outs away from taking a two game World Series lead. Up 1-0 in the ninth inning closer Jason Motte allowed back to back singles at the start of the inning. Two sacrifice flies later and the Rangers would go on to win the game 2-1. The series is now tied at one game apiece and heads back to Texas for game 3 on Saturday.

The game was scoreless until the seventh inning when pinch-hitter Allen Craig stepped in and brought his teammates home for the second time in this series. Cardinals starter Jamie Garcia threw seven innings giving up only three runs. The St. Louis bullpen shut down the rest of the game until the ninth when the Rangers bats caught fire.

St. Louis manager Tony La Russa decided to pitch to Josh Hamilton in the ninth with runners on second and third and no outs. After the game he said he decided to pitch to last year's AL MVP because loading the bases would have made things harder for his team. Hamilton flew out to right to score Ian Kinsler, followed by Michael Young hitting a fly ball to center to score Elvis Andrus.

The Series resumes on Saturday night with Matt Harrison pitching for the Rangers and Kyle Lohse on the mound for the Cardinals.
